MCA #0, Friday Evening

The weather was once again nice enough to allow for Steve to grill, which meant everything was being grilled. Absolutely everything was being grilled.

That was how you knew it was Steve's turn to cook.

"This practice for that party coming up or..." Just showing off for date night? Could actually be both, really.

"I want to make sure I haven't lost my touch," Steve said, flipping the bok choy.

"From the long, cold winter." Anything below 50 was that for Steve.

“So dark and wet,” Steve lamented.

"Yes, that is how winter is outside of the tropics." You delicate man.

“I don’t approve ,” Steve decided.

[hatesparadise]

"We'll go back to Hawaii more next year," he promised. All out of the kindness of his heart.

“Without the weaponized bees,” Steve said firmly.

"Agreed." If they got more weaponized insects, he was out, Steve. Out! "How is Joe?"

“Cagey, “ Steve replied, frowning at the bok choi, “so same as always.”

Danny pressed a kiss to his shoulder for that. Like it made up for things. "Sounds like Joe, yeah."

“I'm not even certain he’s in the States right now,” Steve admitted. He writes back at strange times.”

"Anywhere you could think he'd be?" Other than, you know, not in Hawaii.

[grenadesandohana]

"It's Joe, so he could be anywhere," Steve said, slapping steaks onto the grill. "He'll call when he needs something."

What a healthy relationship Steve had with most people.

Which was why Danny just curled an arm around Steve's waist for a quick hug. "Want another beer?"

“Please,” Steve said, “but only if you’re getting one, too.”

[hatesparadise]

"Yeah, yeah," Danny replied, kissing his dumb shoulder as he pulled away. "I got the good ones this time."

"What do you classify as 'good ones'?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

"Longboards." Duh. Because it was the craft beer they drank.

[grenadesandohana]

Steve grinned. "Damn right it's the good stuff."

Danny gave him a playful little shove before going to retrieve the beer. A nice, quiet date night on the lanai was just what they needed here.

"You like Hawai'i--" Steve sing-songed teasingly.

[hatesparadise]

"I like the beer!" Danny called back, popping the tops off to toss them in the garbage rather than leave them on the counter. He was clearly trying to make the night relaxing for Steve.

Steve loved you so much for that, Danny. "Because it reminds you of our beach?" Steve called back.

That's part of why he liked the beer.

Just long term relationship things.

"Our beach now?" Danny replied, grinning as he offered Steve his beer.

"Well, it comes with our house, so yes," Steve said, taking the beer with a smile of thanks.
