The weather was once again nice enough to allow for Steve to grill, which meant everything was being grilled. Absolutely everything was being grilled.

That was how you knew it was Steve's turn to cook.

"This practice for that party coming up or..." Just showing off for date night? Could actually be both, really.

"You are such a weirdo."

This would become a constant back and forth that would cause the kids to sigh a lot.

Steve flipped the steaks onto a plate. "I'm not that weird."

Untrue.

"Uh huh," Danny replied, holding up the next plate.

"You're humoring me," Steve guessed.

"Would I do that to you?" Yes. Because Steve would do it to him too.

"You would 200 percent do that to me," Steve told him.

"Nahh," Danny replied, tugging him into a kiss before heading over to the outdoor table with his plate.

"Definitely yes," Steve countered to Danny's back.

"C'mon, I want to enjoy the weather before it turns into soup." The humidity of this place, Steve. It wasn't nice.

"Too late, it's May," Steve teased.

"Just four more months of this."

If they were lucky.

"At least the humidity in Honolulu smells nice," Steve said, sitting down at the table.

Danny grumbled, but couldn't really refute that one.

"Less bugs here."

"The mosquitoes are worse."

"We have a candle for that!" Oh yeah, it was doing great too.

"You're putting a lot of faith in that one little candle," Steve said.

"If it smells like that, it better work."

He'd break and use all the bug spray by the week's end.

"It smells like summer," Steve admitted. "I'm just not sure it does much more than that."

"I thought you'd enjoy me being outdoors and not inviting on concrete." For the brief time it took to eat dinner.

"I do appreciate that," Steve agreed, smiling. "Feels like you're buttering me up."

"I am repaying you for the date in New Jersey."

And hopefully avoiding a camping trip.

"Is it working?"

"There isn't a dead body around here, right?" Steve teased, running his foot up along Danny's leg. "Repayment accepted."

Danny grinned down at where Steve was touching him. "That all you want?"

Steve grinned. "Not always."

Danny hummed and took a sip of his beer. "I can handle that."
