The repairman was pulling the violin from the case and talking about how he hadn't taken it back to its original condition because it would do a disservice to the history the instrument had been witness to. Then, with incredible British understatedness, he introduced a "friend"--the premiere violinist in the country who had written a new piece of music just for the unveiling.
