Well, it was that weekend once more. And this time around it was almost expected to get Grace showing up on the island. Charlie, however, was a bit more of a surprise with, you know, everything going on there.

It was still a clusterfuck, but the custody things were being hashed out with less resistance than it had been with Grace the first time around.

"I knew I shoulda child-proofed the kitchen," he grumbled. Because trying to keep up with a five year old again? Not fun.

"Debatable." You picked this man, Steve.

"Do I have to?" Charlie whined, doing his best to look pathetic on having to try something new.

"Yes," Danny said immediately, looking at Steve for back up.

"At least...three bites," Steve said, pulling that from his mom's fights with Mary about vegetables.

Danny nodded in approval even while Charlie kicked at the air since fun Uncle Steve was so cruel to him.

"It's pizza," Danny soothed. "You'll like it more than you think.

"And it smells really good," Steve said.

Grace sighed oh so loudly at that, only putting her phone down to grab plates.

"Three bites," Danny repeated, holding firm. "And then we can watch a movie."

"SOMETHING WITH CARS!"

Inside voices were for non 5-year-olds.

"Cars it is," Danny promised with a look that implied a nice, strong drink was in his future once they were in bed. "I'll be fun."

"No it won't," Grave muttered far too loudly from the kitchen.

Steve snickered. "Let's go dish up some food, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah," Danny agreed. "Thank you, Steve. And Grace."

Grace already had a slice of pepperoni pizza in her mouth at that.

"You're welcome, Danno," Steve said, dishing up a biiiig piece for Danny.

Which earned him an annoyed squint. "You get to deal with Charlie eating."

Cruel, Daniel. Cruel.

"Charlie and me have an understanding, right, buddy?"

Charlie looked decidedly dubious about that.

"Have a lot of experience with five year olds, babe?" Danny asked with a chuckle as Charlie tried to make a beeline for the fridge before getting gently snagged by the back of his shirt. "No more sugar today, okay?"

"But, Dannooo."

Steve had zero experience. Zeeeeeeeeeero.

"Not until you've had the pizza."

"Chocolate milk?" Charlie said instead. Because clearly it would solve all his problems.

Steve looked pained. Allll of that processed sugar, Danny.

Danny just shook his head. "You can have juice," he said, mouthing 'watered down' at Steve.

Steve nodded like he had any idea how to water down juice and went to get the drink.

It was going to be super watered down. Sorry, Charlie.

Welcome to their future until Charlie got a little older, Steve.

"Thanks, babe."

"Part of the gig," Steve said with a grin, handing Charlie the drink.

"One you got pulled along into," Danny muttered, putting down a plate with the fig pizza for Charlie to at the very least try.

Steve reached out to squeeze Danny's shoulder. "I've got no regrets, Daniel," he murmured. "Not one."

"Well, you might after trying to finagle a five year old into eating arugula," Danny said, leaning into him for a moment.

"It's like lettuce but more interesting," Steve argued.

Charlie probably had a good amount of the Williams stubbornness.
