Danny wasn't specifically a boat person, even with his current home being on an island. And his other home also being on an island. But he was at this yacht parade thing anyway for Steve.

And also to enjoy how miserably cold the guy was in the winter.

Look, date night was fun for a variety of reasons. Sometimes you just had to lean into it.

"You want to borrow my scarf?" Danny asked.

"Of course it does," Steve said. Like he'd done at least a dozen other times.

How annoyed were the people around them by now?

"You just like that it's an action movie you can pretend is a Christmas movie."

They joined myriads of people who had been in the Danny and Steve argument splash zone!

"Yes, yes I do."

"I get the full fat eggnog for my sacrifice." Oh, like he didn't love Die Hard.

"Wow," Steve said, "Hard bargain."

"You're getting cookies out of this deal."

And to see the look on Danny's face as Charlie passed out from all the sugar.

"What kind of cookies?" Steve checked.

"The kind I lovingly make with my own two hands," Danny shot back.

"Will there be chocolate in any?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

"Yes." Oh, was it a secret, Daniel? Or were you just winding Steve up?

"You're being a pain on purpose, aren't you."

"Naaah." VERY MUCH YES.

"I don't believe you," Steve told him.

Danny grinned before tugging on the scarf to pull him into a kiss. "Yes, I'm makin' your favorite."

Steve cheered quietly as he kissed Danny back.

"You're a goodball," Danny murmured, kissing him one more time. "Ya goof."

"I'm probably the only SEAL in history to be called a goofball," Steve said.

"Nah, I've met enough of you weirdos," Danny replied, grinning at him. Completely ignoring that boat parade. For shame.

"Not so loud in Annapolis, Danno," Steve said, laughing. "You'll have all the X-Box vets coming to my defense."

"If I get yelled at for disrespecting a vet, I'll have some words back at 'em."

He really, really would.

"I know you would," Steve said, "so let's not do that, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah," Danny grumbled, grabbing Steve's hands to pull them to his waist and under his jacket. Which was a very assertive way to demand affection and also keep Steve's hands warm.

Only Danny could make snuggling vaguely grumpy. It was an amazing superpower.

Steve moved closer and very manfully did not slide his cold fingers under Danny's shirt.

That was probably because Danny would elbow him in the ribs if he did.

"I missed these kinds of things for the holidays," Danny admitted after a little bit of silence of watching the boats float on by.

Steve nodded. "Taking a breath and just enjoying stuff?" he guessed.
