It was hot out. And it wasn't the Hawaii hot, it was the kind of hot that Danny had definitely willfully forgotten about back in New Jersey.

Which was why he was more than willing to let Steve talk him into traveling way too far to get ice cream on the mainland as a sort of date night. While trying desperately to not melt the entire time.

"I can't believe I'm saying that I miss the summer in Hawaii," he grumbled as they got to the shop.

"Yes, there is," Danny said, cocking his head to the side. "Did you bring gloves?"

THAT WAS A WEIRD QUESTION WITH ANYONE ELSE.

"Of course I brought gloves," Steve said. "You yelled about it on the boat that time and I pack them ever since."

"It's just smart!" Danny insisted. "You have all the pockets."

[grenadesandohana]

"But then there's less room for grenades," Steve lamented entirely to wind Danny up.

[hatesparadise]

"Do not!"

[grenadesandohana]

"But they're so handy!"

[hatesparadise]

"Not nearly as much as you seem to think!" Danny insisted.

[grenadesandohana]

"They're much more efficient than kicking in a door," Steve declared.

[hatesparadise]

"And costly in the property damage!" Because that was clearly a big concern here.

[grenadesandohana]

"Maybe they're just in cheaply made properties," Steve countered.

[hatesparadise]

"Cheap because a grenade damages them?" Danny replied, rolling his eyes.

[grenadesandohana]

"Well, yeah," Steve said with a grin. He knelt down next to the blood. "This is probably the real crime scene."

"Had to have been here pretty long to bleed out enough to move him," Danny grumbled, poking at a cabinet where one would assume the server for all recorded material would be stored, only to find one of the plugged in storage units missing.

[grenadesandohana]

"Well, that would've made our lives too easy," Steve grumbled, "but whoever did this was smart enough to remember to take the evidence but not smart enough not to leave any. Think there's prints?"

Danny sighed and looked around the place. "We even sure the murder is what they're covering up?" he asked after a moment. "Because it's just... it's not adding up. Why move the body at all?"

[grenadesandohana]

"And to a super public spot, too," Steve said.

[hatesparadise]

"Exactly," Danny said. "It stinks."

[grenadesandohana]

"What do you think happened?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

"I think maybe he was not planned. That maybe they wanted something in here," Danny suggested.

[grenadesandohana]

"Okay, that makes sense," Steve said. "What else is in here?"

[hatesparadise]

"Videos, I assume," Danny said, looking through another cabinet.

Which was, of course, when a very confused uniformed officer opened the door to the room to blink owlishly at them.

"Hey," Steve said with a wave. "We think we found the primary location."

Super normal thing to do, right?

[hatesparadise]

It was his first crime scene, guys! "Um..."

"You guys really should get better at securing the crime scene," Danny added. "Where is your Sergeant?"

[grenadesandohana]

"You should definitely find them," Steve said, nodding helpfully. "And get some gloves."

[hatesparadise]

"Plastic booties too," Danny added. Because they were just a terrible duo to these poor investigators.
