A Hotel in Szczecin City, Poland, Sunday Evening
Jun. 28th, 2026 07:00 pmEverything continued to go smoothly. Yesterday's show at the festival had been great. Everything before it had been great. Even the heat wave hadn't slowed them down much; their tour had remained so coordinated that Jack was starting to fantasize about how terrifyingly together any child of Lana's and Marco's would be.
Seriously. It was a good thing there was no way in hell that was going to happen.
And yet-- somewhere along the way, the fear had slipped out of him. Dinners with the band - with the family, Dane would say, and while Jack would never be able to dislodge the block he had on using that word, he could acknowledge that it felt right - were good. The shows were good. They were meeting fans and making new fans. Testing songs in a way they hadn't been able to since the first record.
It was. Nice.
And now it was their day off. The rest of the band and Marco himself had taken off for the local amusement park. Jack had been tired and reflective, so he'd said no. But now he was here, in his hotel room, the window open to let in the cool evening air and the sight of the ferris wheel in the distance coloring the sky.
And on a whim, he'd bought two beers.
He sighed, threw one more glance at the window, and reached for his phone. Sent off a quick text to Lana, asking her to come up here if she had the time.
Yeah. This was comfortable.
