It was Wo Fat. It had to be Wo Fat. Unless Steve had picked up some other ridiculous arch-nemesis who had rather recently escaped from jail or something. Which, in all actuality, was possible.

The team, however, was hitting wall after wall as the man covered his tracks just as well as he had before Jameson's death.

Steve's in trouble Danny typed out before adding, If you can get to Hawaii, we could use some more bodies.

[for the two!]

So, last night there'd been a bit of a tiff over the therapy stuff. But that wasn't going to stop Danny from swinging by in the morning to pick up Steve for work. And by 'pick up' he meant 'drive over so Steve could steal his keys and drive his car'.

Which was perfectly normal. For them.

But the door was ajar. Which wasn't like Steve at all and why Danny was already drawing his sidearm and very carefully making his way inside to find the mess therein. Definite signs of a struggle from the living room to the kitchen and out onto the lanai.

"Steve? Steve?""

When no answer came, he cursed under his breath and holstered the gun to call Duke to get an HPD crime scene unit here, following it up with a call to Chin.

Well, that had definitely been a thing that had happened. With the plane and the drone and Danny would very gladly forget all about it other than to bully Steve into taking care of his goddamn leg until it was healed fully.

It was the last morning in Hawaii for their guests and possibly them. Fandom-willing.

[for those on the island!]

While Danny's place wasn't as nice as Steve's because it couldn't be rented out for weddings and parties, it was still probably too nice for someone on a cop's budget. Why? Because reasons. That's why. You just learned to not question these things when watching a CBS procedural cop show.

It was probably sponsored by the Hilton!

Either way, it was another morning in the paradise that was Hawaii.

[for the folks visiting!]
hatesparadise: (wanna try that one again?)
So, you could make all the plans you wanted, but the island--no, not the one in the Pacific--would do whatever the hell it wanted. But in this once instance, it all worked out. Probably because there were other people involved.

Which didn't annoy Danny at all.

No, don't be silly. He was just glad to be home--don't anyone tell Steve that he called it that--and able to see his daughter again.
hatesparadise: (trying to explain procedure)
Well, they'd managed to get back to Hawaii without too much trouble. Which was quite the accomplishment if you asked Danny. At least after the whole... Afghanistan thing.

Which was why Danny was sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop here.

But he was doing it quietly, because he'd have Grace the entire day tomorrow before she went back to spending Christmas day with her mother. Hence the sulking hanging out with Steve in the meantime. "You can't open gifts until tomorrow at the earliest. It's just a rule."

You know. By bickering.

[for the SEAL! but of course open for calls or texts]
hatesparadise: (talking about feelings)
The return to Hawaii had happened smoothly with the holiday somehow lining up both there and in Fandom. But Danny wasn't gonna look a gift horse in the mouth since he got the whole holiday with Grace.

And somewhere between a case involving a presidential visit and a hitman running around their island, and meeting Steve's aunt Deb, things sort of settled into normal. Ish.

Normal-ish.

"Hey," Danny said, hunting Steve down once Mary had left him alone outside. He brought beer. Guy needed to decompress after the news he'd received this week.

[for the SEAL]
hatesparadise: (drinking with steve)
Since it had happened via the beach chairs, and Steve was getting weird about potentially leaving them behind, they were back at where they'd been stashed on the beach of Fandom.

Which they found had been turned into a sort of porg condominium. Because porgs.

And so, once that had been cleared up, Danny and Steve had settled back onto the chairs. It hadn't seemed to take that long, but shortly after that, it was dark out. But also, the ocean was different. And there was the sound of the party they'd been yanked away from weeks ago filtered down toward them. Because they were back on O'ahu, thank god.

Steve beamed. "Hey, look at that. Think there's any beer left?"

Danny shot him a look and shook his head like he couldn't believe Steve was being Steve about all this. Even if it was a very nice constant to depend on.

[establishy!]

Things had mostly settled into a sort of normal in the weeks since they'd been back on O'ahu. You know. For whatever passed as normal for their jobs. A no more phone calls from The Devil. No more space ships level normal. That was all that Danny asked for and that was what he got here.

As long as Jerry wasn't around. Because he just knew Jerry had some opinions about UFOs.

What wasn't normal was getting called to Grace's school for a disciplinary meeting with the Principal over something Grace was being accused of doing. He knew his little girl well enough to know that this was probably some straight up bullshit.
