MCA #0, Friday Evening

Well, it was Friday, but more importantly, it was Friday and there was a new episode of one of the shows that Danny and Steve could watch and get just too invested in.

Which also meant date night.

"I'm starting it if you don't hurry your ass up!" Danny warned from the living room.

"I don't even know what goes into marzipan," Steve admitted.

"Almonds? Pretty sure it's almonds."

That's all he had, though.

"Is this a British thing? They're just making these incredibly complicated stupid cakes regularly? Like how they think everyone knows a Victoria sponge is a cake?"

"I thought those things were Australian, honestly." He was thinking of lambingtons.

"I would've been going home," Steve said.

[hatesparadise]

"How are any of them managing this?" Danny demanded.

[grenadesandohana]

"Maybe it's the opposite of how they tanked brownies, a thing even Charlie could probably figure out," Steve said.

[hatesparadise]

"I can't believe how much they fucked up brownies!" Oh, this was a rant. This was a known rant and Steve triggered it.

Steve's lips quirked up because he liked to play with fire like this. "Do figs not go in brownies, Danno?"

He was a cruel, cruel man.

"No! No, figs do not!"

"What do go in brownies?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

"Chocolate! Just freakin' chocolate!" Danny was so worked up about this. "And it's not freakin' raw in the middle. What is so wrong with them??"

"I think they've never had a decent brownie in their lives. This is a group who wants their cookie to thunk on the table, too," Steve said.

"You have to just soak it in tea to be edible." Which Danny did, to the horror of Rachel.

[grenadesandohana]

"Have you done that?" Steve asked.

[hatesparadise]

Danny made a face. "Yeah. Rachel's mother was... a real piece of work. I think she might have made them stale before serving them."

Having someone serve them to Danny, honestly. Because she wouldn't deign to lower herself.

"Rachel's mother makes cookies?" Steve couldn't picture Rachel making cookies.

[hatesparadise]

"Oh, hell no. She had someone buy them for her." Totally different.

[grenadesandohana]

"That makes more sense," Steve admitted. "She doesn't seem like she cooks at all."

[hatesparadise]

"Yeah, she's..." A monster-in-law. "Let's just say I had practice before your mother."

[grenadesandohana]

"Doris has probably wondered what your secret is," Steve said.

[hatesparadise]

"I am a very patient man." And stubborn as hell.

[grenadesandohana]

"It helps that she doesn't stick around for long," Steve muttered dryly.

Danny tugged him over for a kiss at that. Something to keep Steve from spiraling at it.

"I'm good," Steve promised when he finally pulled back.
