So, you could make all the plans you wanted, but the island--no, not the one in the Pacific--would do whatever the hell it wanted. But in this once instance, it all worked out. Probably because there were other people involved.

Which didn't annoy Danny at all.

No, don't be silly. He was just glad to be home--don't anyone tell Steve that he called it that--and able to see his daughter again.

"I want additional security on Danny's place," Steve said, "and your house, and Kono's. She still with Adam?"

Because that would make it complicated, what with Adam's Yakuza-but-only-kinda-maybe ties.

Steve pressed his lips together. "What are the odds of Danny getting absolutely insane about the Wo Fat thing when we tell him?" he asked. "Add security to Rachel and Step-Stan," not his name but whatever, "and maybe we can just...ride out the week and tell him after our visitors go home?"

That was a terrible idea, Steven.

"Let's work on getting confirmation and until then just increase the bubble around all of us," Steve said. "With friends in town, we're going to be altering our normal patterns anyway. He's not going to expect us to be going to Pearl Harbor or to public beaches or any of the tourist crap."

"You get to handle telling Danny at the end of the week then," Chin told him. Like he would have even tried getting in the middle of that whole mess if Steve had asked nicely.

Because he wouldn't. He'd mysteriously turn deaf and have to go to Kauai for some reason.
