So, you could make all the plans you wanted, but the island--no, not the one in the Pacific--would do whatever the hell it wanted. But in this once instance, it all worked out. Probably because there were other people involved.

Which didn't annoy Danny at all.

No, don't be silly. He was just glad to be home--don't anyone tell Steve that he called it that--and able to see his daughter again.

He was a lot of things, and strangely picky about his clothing was one of them. He liked well-made expensive shit, okay?

“I can probably count on one hand the number of times I wore a tie for work, and I used to work in an embassy,” Liam said.

An alien embassy, run by beings who had no use for clothes themselves, what with being made of energy.

“My- coworker,” just the slightest hesitation there, because ‘father’ would raise a lot of questions he wasn’t prepared to answer just yet, “on the other hand? Full suit and tie, every day. Including the time we were on a mission in Peru.”

Liam shook his head. “DC,” he told her. And then: “How much have Steve and Danny said about what kind of place Fandom is?”

"Danny let us in on any of it today," Kono said, "so he didn't get much further than complaining about how stuck he usually was there, with a tangent about raccoons?"

"They do tend to give him a hard time," Liam acknowledged. "It's, uh. Interesting. Attracts all sorts of people." Look, if she hadn't been given the rundown, he didn't want to deal with the 'placating the crazy person' looks for the rest of the week, even if he was pretty sure at least some of his other fellow visitors would back him up here. "Anyway," he shook his head, switching tracks slightly since 'dimensional nexus and I personally am from a world with aliens' was off the table here. "My job before then was something of a mix between private security and personal assistant. My... employers... sent me all over the world."

Which basically meant he was used to that whole 'special privileges' thing 5-0 had going on, except planetwide instead of just in Hawaii.

Kono was definitely thinking "government sponsored mercenary" as she nodded. "Please tell me all of your stories aren't classified," she said. She pointed accusingly at Steve. "He always stops just when it starts to get good."

That was... somewhat close, except for the part where working for aliens meant he didn't, ultimately, answer to the government. At least, not any Earth-based one. "All the good ones absolutely are," Liam confirmed.

Steve and Danny clearly had some sort of reason for not being honest with their other teammates but you know what? Liam was just going to roll with it and when they eventually showed up at the next Parents' Weekend or whatever? He was going to laugh and laugh.
