The case in Baltimore hit a sort of dead end until Parrish's daughter was back in town, having had the amazing luck to have been gone before her father's escape and only just back to the news of it. Which allowed Danny and Steve to speak with her about things and dig into the story he'd given them about being framed.

Which seemed, despite all the odds, to be the case.

"It just seems like a lot of work to get away with murder," Danny said as they walked away from Lauren Parrish's home.

Steve moved through the line quickly and placed the order. "It'll be about five minutes," he said, ambling over.

"Smells good," Danny admitted, taking a seat in a chair that was squeaky and sticky. Just what you wanted in a good meal.

"I wouldn't steer you wrong on sandwiches," Steve assured him, taking a huge bite of his sandwich and coughing slightly as the sting of the horseradish went right up his nose.

Danny snickered, watching him. "You're a lunatic," he decided before going for a bite.

And coughing.

Steve grinned. "Good, right?"

Danny smacked him on the arm as his sinuses cleared out. "It's alright."

"I told 'em to go easy on the horseradish because it was your first sandwich," Steve said with a smile. "It's great when you have a cold."

"Oh, yeah. I can fully see you and your little army buddies coming here like idiots for that," Danny said, fully winding him up as he ate.

"Navy," Steve said, stealing Danny's soda for that insult.

"Hey!" Danny tossed a dirty napkin at him for that.

"You started it," Steve said, dodging the napkin.

[hatesparadise]

"I did not," Danny said, swiping his soda back.

He really did.

"You absolutely did," Steve said. "Eat your sinus clearer."

"Yeah, yeah," Danny grumbled, tapping his foot against Steve's under the table.

Steve flashed him a quick grin in reply.

Danny grinned back at him, only looking away when his phone dinged with messages from Chin. "Huh. Looks like they found the job posting Parrish mentioned. Lookin' into any responses to it now."

"Have them run the names against records for ex-cons," Steve said. "They might not've been looking for Parrish in particular, but a certain type of person."

"Got it," Danny said, wiping his hands off so he could very meticulously text that to Chin. Because you fuck up one word and no one ever let you live it down in this group.

It was how they showed love!

While Danny was texting so careful, Steve took tactical advantage to steal another sip of soda.

"Hey!" Danny smacked at his arm for that as he put the phone down. "You want sugar, get your own soda!"

But the fun was in stealing yours, Daniel.

"I'm saving you from drinking the entire thing," Steve announced piously.

[hatesparadise]

"Oh, is that it?" Danny replied, rolling his eyes.

[grenadesandohana]

"You mispronounced 'thank you for your concern over my health, Steve,'" Steve said.

[hatesparadise]

"My health is just fine," Danny shot back, having to cut himself on a rant about how Steve was the cause of his health issues in nearly getting him shot. It was a little top soon for it.

"Because I help," Steve said with another bite of his sandwich.
