Baltimore, MD - Saturday Afternoon

The case in Baltimore hit a sort of dead end until Parrish's daughter was back in town, having had the amazing luck to have been gone before her father's escape and only just back to the news of it. Which allowed Danny and Steve to speak with her about things and dig into the story he'd given them about being framed.

Which seemed, despite all the odds, to be the case.

"It just seems like a lot of work to get away with murder," Danny said as they walked away from Lauren Parrish's home.

"I'll attempt to be nice," Steve amended.

"That sounds more like it," Danny replied.

Steve grinned at him. "I'm who I am."

Danny snorted, bumping him with his shoulder. "We've got leads at least. And your buddy has a uniform on her Lauren's house in case her dad makes contact."

"And you left our numbers, too, right?" Steve asked.

"Of course," Danny replied. "Hopefully it won't come down to that. She doesn't need that in her life."

"She doesn't," Steve agreed.

"You owe me lunch while we wait for calls," Danny decided with nothing to back up that claim.

"No, I don't," Steve said, "but we can go get pit beef anyway."

[hatesparadise]

"Pit beef?"

[grenadesandohana]

"Roast beef sandwich with enough horseradish to blow your head off," Steve said. "You'll love it."

"Sounds decent." Oh, those were fighting words in this city, Daniel.

"It's a good sandwich," Steve said.

"I'll be the judge of that." Spoken like a true native of New Jersey.

"Let's get sandwiches and wait on Chin," Steve said, heading for the truck. "You do have to admit that if they were looking to set someone up for murder, a guy with two strikes already against him is a pretty good target."

"So, they did their research," Danny agreed, following after him.

Steve nodded as he consulted the GPS and headed for the pit beef place. "So how do you write an ad that will attract ex-cons?" he asked.

"And where exactly do you put it?" Danny replied. "He never gave us those details with the whole..."

Gunpoint thing.

"Taking us hostage and threatening to shoot you part?" Steve filled in tightly.

[hatesparadise]

"That, yeah," Danny sighed, reaching over to grab Steve's forearm to give a comforting squeeze.

Steve reached up and patted Danny's hand. "I'm still angry about that."

[hatesparadise]

"Fully allowed and expected," Danny agreed.

[grenadesandohana]

"And if he did murder this guy, I'm not going to feel the least bit bad that when we find him, he goes to prison for the rest of his life," Steve said.

"And if he didn't, he's still going to jail for kidnapping," Danny said firmly.

[grenadesandohana]

"Damn right he is," Steve muttered. "I'll ask the FBI where they are on finding him, since they lost him to start with."
